Howard Centre How much longer is Howard Centre going to be a building site? I remember some time ago being told that the impact on teh shoppers would be minimal and the revamp would be over quickly. How long ago was that? 1 year? 2 years? I can't remember. Another thing I can't remember is shopping without a jackhammer or a tile cutter or some other extremely noisy machine working away for hours. When is the renovstion of the old Standard Bank going to finish? Oh yes, I nearly forgot, when are management going to replace those slippery tiles? Are they waiting for someone to break a leg or worse before they stop making excuses and do something?
Grumpy? Me? No, I just want peace and quiet when I go to shop. And I do not want to shop in a building site anymore! James Williams:3 Sep 2010 : 05:19 pm
Parking at Howard Centre is a big pain It is becoming next to impossible to do a quick pop in to the Library or Howard Centre. You try parking near the library - the flow of traffic just doesn't work.
And then one can park in the parking garage for Woolies, and risk having to pay R4 parking for a shopping dash, because the queues before their 6pm closing are longggg.

Traffic Traffic cops, sppeding traps and fines are still the best deterrent to speeding. Speed bumps will just create a clatter especially when trucks go over them, and then the speeding will resume again. There should be ongoing speed traps in Nightingale Way, Links Drive, Forest Drive and Ringwood Drive. Barbara:1 Sep 2010 : 01:23 pm
It's a Breeze to go elsewhere Thank goodness for Spar! No having to deal with the miserable Pick 'n Pay tellers who carry on their conversations with colleagues and totally ignore the paying customer. And, with the exception of the banks and a few odd shops, it looks like the rest of Howard Centre is closing down? Di:31 Aug 2010 : 03:57 pm
School clothes We have 5 schools in Pinelands. Why are we unable to purchase a pair of school shoes or takkies in the centre? Parent:29 Aug 2010 : 09:24 am
Lack of teenage entertainment We are now into the next generation of teenagers having NOTHING to do in Pinelands in the evenings!! (I know there are guides, scouts, church groups etc, which most areas have anyway, and are wonderful for the yonger teenager.) When the movie house was demolished nearly 20 years ago, we were all hoping that some upmarket centre would be built there, but Mutual Offices were built there ... and some of the ground was never used. Surrounding areas don't have safe "dives" for our kids to go to. I hope that by the time my little Granddaughter becomes a teenager there will be more than Mc Donalds and the Spur to drop her off at to have some fun teenage time ... which for 18 years we as Pinelanders have sadly not given them. Hoping for the day:28 Aug 2010 : 07:45 am
Mcdonalds I leave in Forest Drv. opposite Mcdonalds and am innundated with containers and leftovers from this restaurant. I have noticed that there isn't a single dustbin outside Mcdonalds. How is this possible? For a restaurant that supplies food in take away containers not to have a bin for their customers to dispose of their rubbish? By the end of the week my container is half full with cartons and cups collected from outside my wall as well as inside. Surely restaurants should not be allowed to pollute our suburbs?

Flooring I am amazed that a shopping centre would use such slippery tiles. Have you tried walking on the tiles in smooth soled shoes or heels? :20 Aug 2010 : 03:00 pm
Lack of transparency Pinelanders and even Centre tenants are not informed or even consulted about proposed new tenants. Disrespectful! Tebza:18 Aug 2010 : 03:16 pm
Mr Price We understand that Mr Price is no longer opening a store in Howard Centre, but this has not been confirmed. Pinelands Directory:15 Aug 2010 : 02:50 pm
Mr Price It was noted that Mr Price was coming to the centre but i don't see it in your layout. Is it still coming or not????? Sam:15 Aug 2010 : 10:23 am
Howard Centre The parking at the Library has become a nightmare, especialloy when you just want to pop into Pick 'n Pay for something small before fetching children from school. The vehicles parked in the red lined areas should be fined or better still removed. They cause a major problem when cars are circling, looking for parking and others are trying to reverse to get out, only to be held up again by a queue of cars wanting to get out but are held up by some problem at the boom! More parking is desperately needed. SJ.: 5 Aug 2010:11:45:5 Aug 2010 : 11:46 am
Nothing new The woolies still stocks the same boring stuff and I still have to travel to shops in other areas if I am looking for something. They just moved around some of the banks and shops. The only thing I go for at the centre is buying a few things at Pick n Pay and for everything else I prefer to go to other places Zak:28 Jul 2010 : 11:27 am
Tiles are a disaster waiting to happen 1. Please do something about those tiles - they're too slippery.
2. Give us proper coffee shops please - many people in Pinelands work from home and the coffee shops are best meeting places.
3. An additional entrance would be great.
4. Improve parking - getting in and out takes too much time.
5. Thank you so much for all the other great improvements - wider walk ways, better toliets, better banking halls etc. :23 Jul 2010 : 10:59 am
