| Grace's Make A Welcome Return To The Howard Centre |
Pinelanders were delighted to see the return of Grace's Restaurant to the centre. The grand re-opening was bright and early on Tuesday 15th Dec, and when we visited we were treated to a glass of bubbly with our meal. Grace and her staff were quite frazzled from the late night getting the place ready for the opening, but open they did, and on time. As expected, many of her old customers were back for a welcome rest, chat and refreshment. |
| ...And Sadly Barnett's Pharmacy Leaves |
Last week saw the closing of Pinelands legend, Barnett's Pharmacy. It will be strange to not have the old family "chemist" there anymore. We wish the staff well. In the immediate future the area is being carpeted for use as a special promotions area. In the longer term, Nedbank will be extended into this space and their entrance will be inside the centre. |

Lost Dog - Have you seen him? |
We have lost our small, white dog (mixed breed), who looks a bit like a Chihuahua. He has a distinctive nose colouring – it is black and white and his eyes look a bit peculiar – they are bordered by pink, not black. One eye is blue. He went missing late afternoon on Friday 20 November 2009 from 4 Gousblom Road.If you have seen him, please contact Cindy at 073 867 0010 or 021 531 7359. Cindy - 7 Dec 2009 |
| Snail Tales |
I have tried numerous non poisonous snail deterents (losing countless seedlings in the process). There was an article posted on the internet describing the use of copper piping or wire, in the ground around a plant that gives snails a small shock and turns them back from whence they came. I experimented with wet soil, and one piece of wire and ended up with multiple coils of wire - the snail loved them all and wasn't worried by the copper wire at all. What's a person to do about snails?Glynnis - 25 Nov 2009 |
