On the Cape Town Fan Walk • Sat 3 July

On Saturday we boarded a jam packed and very jovial train at Rondebosch station into town to take part in the Fan Walk before the big Argentina v Germany Game on Saturday 3 July It was a fantastic experience being part of a festive street carnival. Here's hoping that Capetonians will keep the spirit long after the World cup is over and reclaim our city centre as a place to get together and share the energy of our city.

World Cup Kick-off shared with the Indomitable Lions

On 11 June, our family hesitantly boarded the train at Goodwood station, using the train for the first time in years, and armed with vuvuzelas we headed for Cape Town where we were going to watch the RSA vs Mexico game at the Fanfest followed by the France vs Uruguay game at the Stadium. Not only was the train filled with World Cup revellers, we all sang all the way to Cape Town, regular passengers and soccer fans alike. It was amazing!! At the newly revamped Cape Town station we were “ambushed” by fans from all over the world wanting to be photographed with us. The photo of our family with supporters from Cameroon depicts not only the excitement and joy of the event, but the international excitement and support we experienced! It was a day we will never forget!!
